Emu is a beast!!!
Well.. i have done som incredible!!.. i have sold my Nord Modular.. to get enough money to buy an Emu e6400 Ultra... what was i thinking???!!!
Selling this wonderfull red piece of hardware to get an outdated fan-noisy sampler..? Well to be honest.. i have a strong belive that a sampler is the ultimate tool for expression and it has infinity age of living... if i was a rich boy (la-la-la-la-la), i would never have sold my nord.. but i am not.. so i had to trade away one of my child....
A hardware sampler might not be the easiest to work with.. comparing to big software sampler.. but for me its about crafting.. feeling the tool.. get my back a bit soar... its a part of the road.
The emu sampler have some mighty filters..and every day i am starting to understand more.. still i have much to learn.. and my biggest down is that i have no scsi cdrom or pci slot for a scsi cable.. so i can't copy my drumsamples into the sampler... which leaves me to dumping mono samples over sysex OR recording.. at the moment i work with the last option. And it suits me fine.. but i would very much like to start building some drum-kit on the sampler.. so that i can work with the filter independant on the drumtrack.
After working some hours with a drum loop... i must say that thing sounds WONDERFULL!!! the filters.. the playback.. everything is just great... i welcome a new member for the family, while i cry over the loss of the little red one..
The emu i got is an E-mu e6400 Ultra with 128mb ram, 8 output, RFX-32 effect board exp. and a 15gb harddrive. Running EOS 4.61 at the moment because of the RFX-32 card. Upgrading the unit to 4.7 will break the RFX-32 card.. which leaves me into a dilemma.. I am still considering if i should care about the RFX-32 card.. or not.
Some good information about the last emu sampler line
