DJ - Fathir :)

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

The other day i actually came across a news that told me that google had released its old search-index from 2001.
So i took a dive and searched for my old nick/artist name, which was Dj Fathir :D

I took the name, because it sounded goaish.. and all the cool trance duds had “dj” in their name.. which i didn’t understood was because they actually where dj’s.
As for me, i had never touched a turntable or a dj mixer.. (which is also the current status of my dj career)

The Tracks are not downloadable, but i should have them somewhere around, so please feel free to request them :)

Vandetta - Sticky Pineapple

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

New track out.

Not too much to say about it, the ahh’ing is done by Maria. I like the touch. But i am not that satisfied with the whole composition. but instead of starting over, i finished the track, so i can start over with blank sheets.

The drums are heavy done on the emu, the same with all the bases. Mostly nova sampled direct into the emu.

Korg Z1

Well.. long time no see.. stuff have happend..
one of the thing is that i traded in the MC909 against a korg Z1.. why you might as!

because the sampler part (which was the main reason for getting it) was to simple for me.. i need something in the emu league… Akai mpc whould probably do it.. but the price is out of reach.. PLUSS i wanted a good keyboard to push.

Anyway.. here is a patch i dialed up while playing with the korg z1.. and i must admit that this synth is rather impressive.. you can do so much.. and it has such a big sound range!

Emu showoff..

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Well.. i made this hiphop loop in like 15 min out of a loop i sampled from 5 first sec of REM - I’ll take the rain. It was made to convince a friend that he should get a sampler (emu) :).

so the loop is heavy threated with peak shelf filter.

The beat is created on a mc 909, then sampled down as a loop to the emu, where all the magic happends.. bitcruch, AXiter, more stuff i dont remember.. cus it happends so fast :P

A day before the arrival of MC-909

Roland MC-909
Well.. due to my bad economy, i have agreed with a nice guy to trade some gear.

he gets from me

Korg AM8000R :(
Korg M1r
Line 6 FilterPro
Presonus TubePre

I gets a MC 909 from him.

I HOPE it will work as a creative sketchpad for creating fast beats and other sweet stuff. Since its also a sampler aswell as a groovebox.. it can be covering large fields. but i havent forgot my emu.. which will still be my main sampler.. i cant imagine that the mc909 will beat the sound of emu..

one idea i have is to create up the beat on the mc909.. the maybe slice it down and then recorde it over to the emu, before sequencing it into logic?

Creamware running on a old mac with os 9

Monday, February 11th, 2008

I have set up my old creamware system on an old mac (G4 400mhz, 512 mb ram), and using it purly for synths.. and DANG its stable.. and i can run it on the lowest latency.

To get to the MAC for now i am using a remote control program. But i have an spare screen i want to hock up, i just don´t have the space at the moment :).

My plane is to maybe get some more synths of the creamware shop, and use the system as a standalone synth-host.

a screen of the setup here -> OS 9 VNC dump

In the picture you can see the miniscope (an old minimoog emulation, but miles away from the minimax which kicks ass compared) and U know 007, a Juno 106 emulation, which sounds very good :D

We are in the final with two other bands.

To be honest i don’t think we stand any chance. But its fun to be part of it! Wish us good luck.

Vandetta is a electro duo consisting of two members, Higen and Maria. Where Maria is doing the vocals.

Higen - Scapeland

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

Hey,

new track out.. this time its kind of chillout. I have been using the emu MUCH on this track.. so much that i have lost the overview!

i use the emu for:
Pads, leads, arps, “flute”, drums and other stuff i dont know :)

to nail it i recorded the whole track to the emu and then exported the sample :)

I also used the rfx card on the emu for processing AU instrument from logic. (the piano, which is EXS24 with holy grail piano, converted from emu format)

Anyway.. enjoy!

Chillout up next…

Well.. after doing some breakbeat i needed to get back to the chillout style i so much love…

I am fare from finished, but i have gotten a start. I started out working up a pad patch on the emu, by layering the oscillators on my Novation Nova, then sample it down as a raw sample without filters or anything from the nova. two keys was sampled C3 and C4, then i just layered it on the emu, worked out the filters and cords to create a good lushy pad. adding a nice delay effect made it realy good.

Then i started with the drums. i have tons of singleshot drums on my computer which i am moving over to my emu… it takes a bit time with the zip, but when i have it on the hard drive, its rather easy to dial up the samples i need. Some filter works on the drums.. and layering.. i am running the kit on 3 parts using diffrent effects and filter settings.

Piano is holy grail on esx24, with filter and some modulators i worked up. then ran through the rfx for some ambience delay.

The chant voice is my own, with a slight tuning.

i am considering sample it down to the emu, then play it off like a sampler with the filter possibilities.

the cut is 2 min.. not very much.. but its a start :)
