Edit that preset!

I have set up my old creamware system on an old mac (G4 400mhz, 512 mb ram), and using it purly for synths.. and DANG its stable.. and i can run it on the lowest latency.

To get to the MAC for now i am using a remote control program. But i have an spare screen i want to hock up, i just don´t have the space at the moment :).

My plane is to maybe get some more synths of the creamware shop, and use the system as a standalone synth-host.

In the picture you can see the miniscope (an old minimoog emulation, but miles away from the minimax which kicks ass compared) and U know 007, a Juno 106 emulation, which sounds very good

after playing with the creamware.. i realize that the NI plug (pro 53) just sounds lifeless :(.. i will continue using creamware instead.

new track out.. this time its kind of chillout. I have been using the emu MUCH on this track.. so much that i have lost the overview!

i use the emu for:
Pads, leads, arps, “flute”, drums and other stuff i dont know

to nail it i recorded the whole track to the emu and then exported the sample

I also used the rfx card on the emu for processing AU instrument from logic. (the piano, which is EXS24 with holy grail piano, converted from emu format)

Well.. after doing some breakbeat i needed to get back to the chillout style i so much love…

I am fare from finished, but i have gotten a start. I started out working up a pad patch on the emu, by layering the oscillators on my Novation Nova, then sample it down as a raw sample without filters or anything from the nova. two keys was sampled C3 and C4, then i just layered it on the emu, worked out the filters and cords to create a good lushy pad. adding a nice delay effect made it realy good.

Then i started with the drums. i have tons of singleshot drums on my computer which i am moving over to my emu… it takes a bit time with the zip, but when i have it on the hard drive, its rather easy to dial up the samples i need. Some filter works on the drums.. and layering.. i am running the kit on 3 parts using diffrent effects and filter settings.

Piano is holy grail on esx24, with filter and some modulators i worked up. then ran through the rfx for some ambience delay.

The chant voice is my own, with a slight tuning.

i am considering sample it down to the emu, then play it off like a sampler with the filter possibilities.

the cut is 2 min.. not very much.. but its a start

The patch is using a kind of reverbish delay on the rfx32.

To build the patch i created a base on my nova consisting of 3 osc.
osc 1: saw
osc 2: pulse width mod -> lfo1
osc 3: pulse width mod -> lfo1+lfo2

and some tweaking to get the sound to be a bit dynamic.

then i sampled it down, and got it into the emu (one C3 samples, and one C4 samples). using about 8 sec of sampling on each.

I looped them, added some corde settings. and lo pass+peakshelf filter.

PS! the patchfile should be renamed to B.000-… its the blog up-loader that destroys the filename

 As a correction.. in stead of calling it higen feat. bla bla.. we named the group Vandetta (dont ask why.. ).

Techincal:
1. layer Bass track is made by novation nova, sampled down to emu then threated.
2. layer bass track is made with v-station prosessed through a presonus tubepre (tube preamp).

Vocals are maria, with auto-tune turned hard on, to get the characteristically sound.

Pads are absynth4 and the build in es2.

Piano are holy grail emu samples piano converted to esx24.

Drums are all and alone emu, with all the glory.

Well.. it has been ages.. since last track drop. mostely due the fact that i have been a father, but also because of the total change of music setup.

I have moved from windows XP with sonar to iMac running logic, which means i have also changed out the soundcard from RME Digi96 to a TC Konnekt 24D. And i do NOT regret at all. This rig just works!

Now i am having enough inputs to get all my gear directly into logic, doing the mixing there. Logic does not have any more features then sonar or cubase when i comes to mixing in external gear, but the way its done in logic is more slicker and cleaner then in sonar and cubase in my opinion.

Anyway.. i have been listening a bit to the hybrid album called Wider Angle, and i must say its inspiring.. the kind of breakbeat with a nice pace but still lush feel. The next track i am working on is still sticking to the breakbeat genre, but i am trying to work up a style that goes between the drums and pace from breakbeat, and the melodies and pads from chill. hopefully some good will come out

Since its only been a day since i started with the track. (some few hours late on sunday) i do not have too much to show off. but since its been so long i will still dump out what i will call a conceptual test of the track, and not a preview. The track is subject to biiiiiig changes over time anyway :).

Well.. there hasnt been much music lately.. obviously because Mathias takes a lot of time. Anyway, i have aquired an Imac. The Imac has taken the space of my old winXP music pc. BUT i cant start before i have bought a new soundcard. i am looking at the TC Konnekt 24D http://www.procom.no/infoShop/isProductDisplayer.php/details/23696 but its a bit expencive :(. Logic 8 (probably express) will be my sequencer of choice. looking forward to the future.. hopefully i will manage to pull out some music from my brain
